Body Signs Emotion Card Set

An important aspect of developing children’s emotional literacy is to help them understand the connection between their emotions and their physical body. 

There are many reasons for this, including helping children to differentiate between feelings states, identify appropriate coping strategies and to increase their understanding of others so they are able to empathise and/or keep themselves safe. The Body Signs Therapeutic Card Set provides a range of cards covering some of the most common physical signs of distress. It also includes two ‘my body signs’ cards which allows children to write their own personalised indicators of different emotional states.

The Body Signs Therapeutic Card Set can be used independently.  However, if larger pieces of emotional literacy work are being planned, it may be helpful to use this Card Set alongside one of our Feelings Scale Therapeutic Card Sets, to enable a more detailed exploration of the child’s individualised experiences of their different emotions.
