Marvellous Mettas Mindfulness Card Set

Metta comes from the Pali word meaning goodwill, friendliness and loving kindness. 

Mettas are about having an active interest in not only your own well-being but also about the health and happiness of others.  Traditionally, Mettas are referred to as prayers or blessings.  I generally refer to them as wishes, as this is a description Lynne connects with the most.  It is about wishing yourself and others good fortune.  It is about an attitude of generosity, empathy and solidarity.  As such, Mettas are an amazing tool to help improve our own mood and sense of self-worth in addition to helping us to teach ourselves (and children) to have more positive consideration and a desire to share joy with others.  Focusing on others can also help us when we get too consumed by our own daily troubles. 

Initially, children will need the concept of Mettas explained to them and the cards can support this part of this introductory work. All of the Metta n Card Sets include guidance about pre-exercise conditions and a simple structure for meditation. Children need to be encouraged to make decisions that make them feel comfortable.  It is important that children make their own choices about their own bodies in mindfulness and for these choices to be fully respected.
